Mr. Halstead (Tony), well as it happens I am indeed black. Until I used the 18.5mm getting below middle C was a chore. I also find that I have no 'home' for the mouthpiece on my lips. Every time I put it to my face it is somewhere else. It works for a time then it doesn't. That sort of thing. From the earliest weeks of playing I didn't find high notes to be exceptionally difficult. Even with the 18.5 I am reaching the G below high C just as with my smaller mouthpieces. I don't want to become a mouthpiece collector but my results with ever larger mouthpieces have been rewarding until I reached the limit of what was commercially available. I don't want to have to play euphonium...H
