Tony (H), Ah, that is interesting: I had not realised I could mix the Paxman rim with the PHC cup. I am indeed quite happy with the "4" rim, other than I want to get a gold one. This is based on past experience (I hesitate to confess this in a horn community!) in a past life I played trombone, and found that a gold plated mouthpiece solved a problem which I still have, of quite dry lips which can stick on the nickel-silver rim.

So, I think my plan would be to try a Paxman 4 gold rim, with PHC 23A and 21A cups, and see how that works before thinking of the PHC rim.
