Subject: Which mouthpiece?
I've recently started playing again after several years away, therefore I am building up my embouchure from scratch. I have previously been comfortable with a Paxman 3C, but find that with my new horn, I lack tone and struggle with the higher notes, which come out a bit flat. I have also tried the mouthpiece that came with the horn, a Holton Farkas MC. I find this mouthpiece blows more freely, and the higher notes come much easier, but I tend to split more. I also think I prefer the rim on the Paxman. I appreciate that it will take time to get used to my new horn as well, but I thought that now might be the best time to try and get the best set up before I get too used to anything.
I thought perhaps the AS rim and the 23 cup would be a reasonable start - am I on the right track??
