Surely the PHC 35 cup is quite deep enough for any musical situation, very powerful in the bass notes but still with a possibility in high register (not wonderful of course but still OK in-tune).
I think a 38 cup would unfortunately be too flat and difficult above the 2nd octave C.
Also, what is DD? As I seem to understand the PHC letters, there is 'A' range (smaller bore), also 'H' (heavy cup) and 'AX' with different style backbore on 20-cup for high register, more 'secure' tones.
