I've been playing many insturments for years now, and I have learned one thing. No matter what your horn looks like, the sound you produce is what matters. If you want to, go ahead and get it relaquered, but I would certainly consider twice. If it plays well, then you have nothing to worry about, and the horn dosen't need to go through all of that trauma anyway.
