If we're talking about lacquering, then I believe the conventional wisdom is that it makes little if any difference to the sound (and certainly not to the "playability" of it) - so go ahead and have it done if you want a permanently shiny horn.
On the other hand, I bet someone will argue that all kinds of subtle sound differences will emerge... perhaps it will actually sound better...
