John i would be careful as they shave the metal to get rid of all the scratches. I had this done to my Alex and it is now prone to silly dents as the metal is much thinner!
However i dont feel this has affected the sound too much and it still serves me very well in my job!
Have you considered the option of polishing with brasso or something similar,i know it is time consuming but it is a much cheaper option and it still looks good!
