With all due respect, the 'Lawson theory' may look good on paper but our PHC findings (arrived at empirically rather than with calipers, logarithms, a calculator, slide-rule or computer) are that a longer 'throat' or cylindrical section is, in practical terms, an aid to the high register.
Any player who owns or has tried our 21AX cup will agree.
Regarding the 'average throat size' of a (French) horn mouthpiece', you may be interested to know that in the PHC range there are 5 bore(UK) or throat (USA) sizes:
by the way, I assume you are in the USA as you give the old Imperial measurement of 0.191 inches, a #11 drill, so maybe our 'average' will not mean much to you:
In millimetres it is 4.84 (arrived at by the following arithmetic: 4 + 4.5 + 4.7 + 5.2 + 5.8 = 24.2 divided by 5
= 4.84 (where do you find the 'division' sign on a keyboard?)
