How will this affect horn players wishing to buy PHC mouthpieces?
First of all, you will still be able to buy PHCs from Paxman, either from the shop or online. The only change will be that Paxman will not have to accept the blame for late orders for PHCs which are out of stock after the end of May. This will become the responsibility of Horncups Ltd.
Secondly, we hope that all existing back orders with Paxman will be able to be delivered by Paxman to horn players who are waiting for their mouthpieces. We do not know the exact details of the order Paxman are collecting in April/May 2008.
The responsibility for the running of PHC and for ordering PHC mouthpieces will be taken over by Horncups Ltd after Paxman have collected their own large PHC order.
We (Horncups Ltd) will then be free to take delivery of our own large order of PHC cups and rims. We placed our order at the beginning of this year so that we would be ready to maintain a supply to Paxman as soon as we had reached an agreement.
For our first order we have concentrated on 500 of the most popular cups and rims which include the following standard (not Z) cups:
21, 21A, 22A, 23, 23A, 25A and a new cup, the 30A which has been requested by several professional horn players.
We have also ordered the following gold plated rims:
N, AN, S, AS, AS-18 and AM.
Our order for acetal rims include the following:
N, AN, S, AS, AS-18, M, AM and W.
The mouthpieces will still be called PHCs as we have agreed a licence to continue using Paxman's name.
As soon as Horncups Ltd have sold enough mouthpieces we will be able to use the capital to order more cups and rims and gradually expand the orders to cover the cups and rims which we were not able to afford in our first order.
