Length of backbore

Here's another nerdy question:

I have noticed that the backbore varies in length between mouthpieces - e.g. a Paxman 4b has a longer backbore than the PhC mouthpieces, and is somewhat longer overall. I suppose if the overall length remains the same the length of the backbore will vary with the depth of cup... is that right?
