Don't think so. Laurence Davies plays an Alex 103 and is a superb player but is very modest. He is just moving from 1st horn in the Philharmonia to 1st horn in the RPO.
Jeff Bryant played an Alex for years on 1st in the RPO, superbly, and was respected and admired by students and professionals alike.
Angela Barnes (LSO 2nd horn) plays on an Alex and is admired for her playing and liked as a person.
What else could it be?
