Based on the article he doesn't know what material his horn is made out of and based on his article alone I would not want to attend a get together of the BHS.
He tries to emulate the qritings of Dickens and says horn players come in all shapes and sizes and then just 4 paragraphs later he says that Peter Damm is the stereotypical horn player that pracitically everyone else there looks like.
I haven't read the book you refer to, but. . .. I doubt it is very well written.(unless he went to the British English Society annual gettogether and took master classes like he did at the BHS annual get otgether.)
