Don't be too hard on the poor chap. I have indeed read the book and although it's true to say that there are several factual inaccuracies, isn't it also true to say that we horn players are guilty of inaccuracies pretty well every day?
(I speak for myself here).
IMHO the book is a 'jolly good read' , highly entertaining, and certainly doesn't set out to emulate the qritings (sic) of Dickens! Nor is Rees trying to somehow 'launch' himself as a serious horn player. He set himself a challenge (why do people climb Everest? because it's there!) and from all acounts rose to it extremely well.
By the way, I am NOT one of the players mentioned in the book, just in case anyone is wondering....
Finally, if anyone would like to buy a LIDL (fantastic low register) just like Jasper's, I have one for sale!
